Deadline to File Your Tax Returns

Today is the April 15 deadline to file your tax returns. If you need more time, there are federal and state options for extending this due date:

• This IRS page explains how to use IRS Free File to request your federal extension. Note that this is an extension to file, not to pay.
• "Tax Tips: Extension to File Your Tax Return - April 2010" On YouTube the IRS has posted this short video that explains tax-extension basics.
• Extending the deadline to file your Colorado tax return is even simpler: The Colorado Department of Revenue gives Colorado tax-payers an automatic six-month extension to file their state income tax returns. Once again, note that this is an extension to file, not to pay.
